Here is some good news for Google OS “Android” user, just in time after the successful launch of the latest Apple iPad device in the market, Apple iPad With Android OS. In a matter of III years, Google Android OS based slates would lead the Mobile market, reckons a new study by IDC. Apple shipped 15.4 million iPads in the fourth quarter of current year, up from 11.1 million in Q III. The Apple inc company had 54.7 pe rcent of the worldwide tablet market in Q IV, down from 61.5 per cent in QIII, the IDC report says. So, Google Android based devices are naturally bound to gain from Apple iPad's fall. "As the sole vendor shipping iOS products, Apple will remain dominant in terms of worldwide vendor unit shipments," said IDC analyst Mr.TomMainelli. "However, the sheer number of vendors shipping low priced in the market, Google Android based tablets means that Google's OS will overtake Apple's OS in terms of worldwide market share by 2015." It's not all over for the Apple iPad, though. The iOS, on which Apple iPad runs, would remain the market leader through 2016 and beyond as far as revenues are concerned, said the IDC report. A major reason attributed to the shift in trend is Amazon's $199 Kindle Fire tablet in the mobile market.
Amazon.com Inc. (e-commerce web Portal) widely reported entry into the media tablet information technology market with a $199, 7-inch product seemed to raise consumers' awareness of the category worldwide, despite the fact that the Fire tablet shipped almost exclusively in the U.S. in the IV quarter," said Mr.TomMainelli. The online retailer shipped 4.7 million units of its Kindle Fire tablet, enough to take second place with 16.8 per cent of the worldwide Tablet market. The Fire's success was the driving force behind Google Android's market share rise: up from 32.3 per cent in the third quarter of 2011, to 44.6 per cent in the IV quarter of 2011. Samsung's electronic share grew slightly from 5.5 per cent in Q III to 5.8 per cent in Q IV. And while Barnes & Noble increased its tablet shipments, its market share actually slipped in Q IV to 3.5 per cent, down from 4.5 per cent. In the IV quarter of 2011, worldwide tablet shipments rose 56.1 per cent to 28.2 million units – a 155-per cent increase from Q IV 2010. Strong consumer demand has led IDC to bump up its 2012 tablet shipment forecast to 106.1 million tablet pieces, up from its earlier forecast of 87.7 million in next year.
