The penetration rate of remote energy conservation in India is still minimal, and promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in the country is of paramount importance in the context of growing urbanization, said Mr.VenkateshValluri, chairman and president, Ingersoll Rand India. Addressing media persons here on Monday, on the sidelines of signing a energy conservation deal with IBM, Mr.VenkateshValluri further said that both the companies were committed to working for an energy-efficient future in India. “India's energy requirements are increasing with the growing urbanization. All the companies in the country are now looking to reduce energy consumption and thus, save on costs. Our alliance with IBM is based on this concept,” he said. The companies will provide remote energy and asset management solutions in India to drive greater energy efficiencies for organizations, which are engaged in infrastructure creation or maintenance for high growth sectors. This solution leverages IBM Intelligent Building Management (IIBM) system (a combination of monitoring, asset management and advanced analytics), along with Ingersoll’s energy optimization technologies, to help trigger preventive and predictive maintenance in order to create smarter buildings.
Buildings in India account for 30 per cent of energy consumption. Of this, the major usage is due to HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) and lighting. As the Indian economy grows and commercial infrastructure gets built, it has become essential to drive robust initiatives to improve energy efficiency and sustainability. In the current economic scenario, with rising energy costs, organizations are facing capital and operating budget challenges. Maximizing capital productivity requires increasing asset utilization, efficiency and uptime. Similarly, operating costs of energy and maintenance need to be optimized. “Technology today can make it possible to 'listen' to the abundance of information emitted from buildings. IBM is working towards building a Smarter Planet. This partnership with Ingersoll Rand will be using intelligent data to build Smarter Buildings that are accountable for energy and carbon resource use, helping create a sustainable environment.” said Nipun Mehrotra, vice president & general manager, Sales & Business Development, IBM India/South Asia.
