Does Liferay support badging/awards?, blogs, wiki, forums, basic use case example, liferay recognizes, display profile page, web page desplayed, award

William Chu : Does Liferay support badging/awards?

Hi,

I'm not sure where to post this so hopefully I find a kind soul that can answer this question. Does Liferay support the concept of badging/awards? Ideally I'd imagine it would leverage the basic rules engine that ships with Liferay now.

Basic use case example

User A decides to take the leap and posts to the forum for the first time. Liferay recognizes that this is the first time that User A has ever posted to the forum so Liferay awards User A with a "badge" or "award" that would be displayed on their profile page.

TIA,

Will

Sandeep Nair : Hi,

This is not provided out of the box. But you can easily implement it, since liferay is already allowing User Ranks based on posts, like just look at you, you are already a youngling and you will soon be Padawan ;)

Regards,

Sandeep

Auditya manikanta Vadrevu : For the forums, ranks does exist but for other (blogs, wiki etc..,) you need to develop. I think its better to develop the badge/awards portlet because first time post is just one case there can be other conditions as well for badge/awards like the frequency of posting by a user etc..,

Mazhar Anwar : Hi Will,

Can you have a look into Configuration of Message Boards Portlet and in User Ranks Tab. It might help youemoticon

Regards,

James McGovern : Are you looking for a badging mechanism similar to http://stackoverflow.com ? This would need to be rules-driven since it is not based on just the number of posts but other criteria as well.
