Changing themes in liferay

Myy Kuivaliha : Hi

I'm a total newbie to Liferay and portals and I have problems with changing themes. I use Liferay 5.2 with Tomcat 6.0. I downloaded Liferay Noir theme and wanted to change it. I followed these instructions. I have added all the files and directories of the theme directly under the /html/themes (also WAR file) directory. I have then changed in portal.properties and portal-ext.properties from default.regular.theme.id=classic to default.regular.theme.id=liferay-noir. Then I do ant clean start deploy and when I start the Liferay there are no changes. The theme is also not available under Manage Pages > look and feel. Only classic theme is there.

Does anyone know what I do wrong? Are there somewhere clear step-by-step instructions on how to change a theme in 5.2?

Thanks in advance.

Mazhar Anwar : Dear,

It seems you have not deployed liferay-noir theme in your server. Can you please check it in your webapps folder ?

You can download it from download plugins-section of Liferay and deploy the theme and then see if it is available in manage pages.

Once it is available you can change the above properties and continue.

Regards,

Mazhar

Myy Kuivaliha : Hi

Thank you for your reply but I did deploy the theme (hot deploy) so it is present in webapps.

Anything else that could be a problem?

Mazhar Anwar : If theme is deployed successfully you will get message about theme is available to use and it should be available in manage pages under look and feel tabs.

When everything is fine, just goto your tomcat/webapps/liferay-noir-theme/WEB-INF folder and check the theme id in "liferay-look-and-feel.xml".

Something like <theme id="classic" name="Classic">

and You can use this "theme-id" as in xml in your portal-ext.properties file.

Durai Murugan : Hi Myy,

If u have hot deployed the theme and it is available in webapps, the theme's thumbnail must be available in look and feel tab of manage pages, a click over that must apply the theme...

to make it default follow Mazhar Anwar's steps...

if still it doesn't solve ur problem and if u don't have any problem in changing any content in ur database, open ur database and open the table named "layout" and clear all entries in the columns named themeId, colorSchemeId and wapThemeId...

then open the table named "layoutset", its default entry would be "classic"

now, if there are any entries other than "classic" change it back to "classic"...

now all users will have classic theme as default. now try changing to ur noir theme and see if it works. best of luck!!!

Chee Chong Low : The new theme will kick into effect for Pages in newly created Community. (in my case)

I think this will apply to newly created Organization etc..

Geo Raj K : Hi

If u deployed the theme and it if it is present in the webapps folder.

the theme will be available in the Manage page

So check whether it is present there or not.

If it is present u have click it to apply

Fast reply encouraged More

Georaj K

Alshaimaa Ali : Please pay attention that ant clean, will remove all installed plugins even it's a theme plugin or portlet plugin.

and u can simply add theme plugin from the control panel->Plugins Installation then select Theme Plugins tab, install more plugins
